How
to be saved & 'BORN AGAIN'
What
must YOU do... to be saved? The apostle Peter answered this
question on the day of Pentecost by saying, "Repent,
and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness
of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:37-38 And Jesus described salvation
saying that it was necessary to be ' BORN AGAIN ', saying "unless
you are born of the water and the Spirit you cannot enter the
kingdom of God." John 3:5
Salvation is by the
grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, and the sanctification
of the Holy Spirit.
What Is Salvation From Sin: Salvation
for mankind is the process by which our Holy God pardons the
sins of repentant sinners, exchanging the penalty of sin which
is eternal death, for eternal life Romans 6:23, AND sanctifies the spirit
of the believer who is spiritually 'BORN
AGAIN'. So that salvation is not just a legal status
of acquittal from judgment on the coming Judgment day, but also
salvation from the power of sin now in this life. Gods way of
salvation is not simply to pardon sin and leave the sinner in
the sinful state that he was before, but to sanctify the spirit
of the repentant sinner through the power of His own indwelling
Holy Spirit, so as too save him from the power of sin and lead
him into obedience to the will of God Romans 6:17, transforming him into the likeness
of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18
Therefore God's salvation is a continuing work in progress,
which started in the past with the death of Jesus at Calvary
for forgiveness of sins, continues on now with the sanctifying
work of the Holy Spirit and will be completed with the resurrection
of eternal life for the saints on the Day of Judgment. Daniel 12:2
How To Be Saved From Sin & BORN AGAIN:
To be saved from the power of your sin you need to do three
things...
- REPENT of your sins...
continually...
- BELIEVE and obey
Jesus Christ by following Him... continually...
- Be BORN AGAIN through water BAPTISM
and receive the Holy Spirit which will give you the power
over sin.
Repentance From Sin: To repent means
to become conscious of the sin in our life, to hate it and want
to turn away from it. Sin is doing evil, which is the exact
opposite to God's holiness. Repentance is the first step for
us to take before God can remove the sin in our lives, because
how can He who gave us freewill remove our sin unless we know
it exists, hate it and want it removed?.. otherwise sin returns
and the later state is worse than the first Luke 11:26 ... therefore repentance is an
absolute prerequisite in the process of salvation. Without repentance
there is no forgiveness of sin Luke 13:3, because sin remains.
Faith In Jesus Christ: Repentance
from sin and Faith in Jesus are two inseparable sides of the
same coin, because repentance leads us away from sin, creating
a void in our lives which must be filled by Christ Who conquered
sin, or else sin returns. 2 Peter 2:20 To be filled by Christ means
to be in Him 1 John 5:20, to have a relationship with
Him and have the Spirit of Jesus in our hearts Romans 8:9, believing and obeying Him by
following Him continually, even through persecution... Mathew 16:24 John 12:26 so that faith is made perfect
by faithfulness that God may transform us into the likeness
of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 Believing that Jesus
is the Son Of God, that He came down from heaven and became
a man of flesh and blood, died on the cross for our sins, and
that He was raised from the dead to live forever more, sharing
His victory over sin with all who obey Him. Hebrews 5:9
Baptism In Water: Complete your
faith by obeying Jesus Christ and the apostles and be baptized
for the forgiveness of your sins Acts 2:37-38, with full immersion water
baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
in order to receive the indwelling Holy Spirit and have the
power to follow Christ. For without the Holy Spirit you are
still under the dominion of sin, controlled by human flesh and
cannot do the will of God John 15.5, nor endure the accompanying baptism
of fire Mathew 3:11. Mark 10:38:39 For the believer
to receive the Holy Spirit at baptism, it must be voluntary
and accompanied by repentance from sin and a commitment to follow
Jesus otherwise it results in only the washing of the body and
religious symbolism instead of the miraculous reality. To be
baptized into Jesus Christ is to be united with Him in His death,
burial and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4 So complete your faith in Christ
by being baptized into Him and continue on by following Him
faithfully always...
